The hatchway on the right leads to a vestible through which one reaches the stairway to boiler room 2. The visible stairway goes up the the Engineer NCO's deck. The handwheels in the background are a set of main steam emergency shutoff valves for the boiler room. On the left are control rod linkages, used for remote enabling/disabling of items in the boiler room. Very worn linoleum covers the deck.
