Aft Damage Control
Our collection of photos showing the Prinz Eugen's aft damage control center.
A view in the Prinz Eugen's damage control center located on the Oberes Plattformdeck (first platform), compartment IV pre-7.5. This view is looking to the starboard side forward corner of the room. On the middle-left of the photo is a flooding alarm panel; the panel's left side indicates flooding in the aft of the ship and the panel's right side indicates flooding in the forward compartments. The black, upside down funnel in the center of the photo is a gunnery flooding alarm. The gray box just to the right of center is a damage control repeating device. The white colored box just above the damage control repeating device is a phone locker.
Panning to the right of the prior photo, this is a view looking to the starboard side after corner of the Prinz Eugen's damage control center. In the middle-left of the photo are various damage control phones while next to them on the right is a damage control telegraph device. At the bottom-right is a flooding diagram indicator for various locations throughout the ship.
Panning to the right again in the Prinz Eugen's damage control center, the left side of this photo is the extreme right side of the prior photo. The viewer is now looking at the aft wall of the damage control center. The middle of the photo is the flooding effect diagram for the ship. On the right side of the flooding diagram is an inclination chart for the ship, showing the expected inclination for different flooding amounts. At the bottom of the photo is the bunker tank plan with different colored pegs inserted into various compartments to indicate their current status. In the corner of the room, just beyond the stairs, is the fuel transfer diagram for the ship. At the top of the photo, the small indented rectangle is an emergency exit damage panel for exiting the compartment if the stairs are inaccessible.
